Participating in Pieroth The Experience is far more than a simple professional visit—it is a full immersion into the world of wine and spirits, at the crossroads of cultures, craftsmanship, and trends shaping the Japanese market.
For four days, the Prince Tokyo transformed into a true international hub, bringing together private buyers, wine professionals, importers, sommeliers, distributors, specialized media, and passionate enthusiasts.
Pieroth, a key player in wine importation and distribution in Japan, once again delivered an ambitious, elegant, and perfectly orchestrated event.
For this Tokyo edition of PTE, Alice was invited to host the stand for The Prisoner, a collection of high-quality Californian wines, as well as Ruffino – a Tuscan house with 150 years of history – both part of the Constellation Brands portfolio. She also selected a team of sommeliers to support her throughout the four days of operation.
In this article, Alice shares her overall experience of this exceptional wine event in Asia.
A Unique Energy From the Moment the Doors Opened

From the very first moment, the excitement was palpable: conversations in multiple languages, glasses clinking, tastings flowing one after another, and quick notes scribbled down to capture every detail.
Each stand told a different story. Some producers highlighted their iconic cuvées, embodying the core identity of their estates, while others showcased more innovative projects focusing on sustainability or new winemaking techniques.
This diversity perfectly reflects the evolution of the Japanese market, where old generation and younger generation of consumers gathered at the same place looking different types of experiences.
Meaningful and Inspiring Exchanges with Producers

One of the most striking aspects of the event was the quality of the conversations.
Pieroth The Experience goes far beyond simple tasting.
It’s a space for dialogue and learning.
Each exchange revealed behind-the-scenes elements: regional challenges, winemaking decisions, vintage variations, and each Maison’s ambitions.
It’s a reminder that wine is never just a product; it carries a terroir, a family history, a technique passed down or reinvented.
This narrative dimension – essential to understanding the identity of a bottle – was highlighted throughout the event.
A Sensory Journey Around the World

The tasting sessions offered a true world tour.
Visitors could transition from a crisp, mineral white wine to a bold red from a region still unfamiliar to the Japanese public, before discovering spirits with rich and complex aromatic profiles.
Each estate asserted its individuality, style, and vision. This diversity is what makes Pieroth The Experience so valuable for understanding market evolution and identifying what attracts Japanese consumers today.
Impeccable Organization that Inspires
As an event professional, I paid particular attention to the orchestration of the fair.
Smooth circulation, readily available staff, clear information, and effective crowd management – even during peak hours – showed how much care went into optimizing the visitor experience.
It’s the kind of execution that inspires and reminds us that an event’s success relies as much on operational excellence as on content.
Trends and Expectations in the Japanese Market
The event also offered insight into emerging trends.
I noticed a growing curiosity for niche wines, an interest in lesser-known regions, and greater attention to sustainable and responsible practices.
Producers who highlighted authenticity and transparency clearly resonated more with visitors—proof that consumer expectations are shifting toward meaning, storytelling, and connection.
A Rich and Inspiring Conclusion

I leave this edition with exciting discoveries, new connections, and an enriched understanding of the Japanese wine market.
Pieroth The Experience confirms its status as a must-attend event for anyone involved in the industry.
I’m already excited to see what the 2026 edition will bring.
